W\u00e4nde, die zuvor vielleicht grau waren, bekommen eine einzigartige Gestaltung und k\u00f6nnen zu einem sehr hohen Identifikationsmoment werden \u2013 insbesondere dann, wenn sie gemeinsam mit den Anwohner_innen partizipatorisch entwickelt und gar realisiert werden. Dies kann jedoch auch zu einer Vermarktungsstrategie f\u00fcr die Immobilienwirtschaft werden. Hippness, ein kreatives Wohnumfeld und sich am Stadtleben beteiligende Anwohner_innen erzeugen oftmals ein zunehmendes Wohninteresse. Mietpreise steigen, das Ausstattungsniveau der Wohnungen wird h\u00f6her und schleichend beginnt die Umstrukturierung der Stadtteilbewohner_innen, der Prozess der Gentrifizierung. Wandbilder sind Teil der Subkultur um Graffiti, Street Art, Urban Art und gleichfalls auch Teil des Gegenwartskunstkontextes. Oftmals werden Arbeiten auch ungefragt angebracht, sie sind Teil einer kritischen Gegenkultur, zu deren Themen auch die Gentrifizierung z\u00e4hlt. Sind dem gegen\u00fcber Murals eine domestizierte Deko-Gestaltung des \u00f6ffentlichen Raumes, leicht der Stadtteilvermarktung zug\u00e4nglich? Wie sind so sub- oder soziokulturelle Projekte zu bewerten? K\u00f6nnen monet\u00e4re Aufwertungsprozesse und stadtteilintegrative Prozesse entkoppelt werden? Previously grey walls, now take on a particular set of aesthetics. These could lead to identification, especially when done in conjuction with local residents. Visually stimulating \u201eupgrades\u201c of an urban district can also become marketing strategies for real estate agents. Hippness, a creative environment and commited participating residents make those areas more attractive for others. Rent increases, apartments get renovated and the demographics change; the process of gentrification creeps in. Although murals are part of the subculture that surrounds graffiti, street art, urban art and they also have become a part of the present context of art. Often this works are installed unasked, they are part of a critical counterculture, and gentrification is one of its topics. In contrast are murals a domesticated decoration-design of the public space, easily accessible to the district marketing? How to interpret subcultural and sociocultural projects in these contexts? Is it possible to separate monetary upgrade processes and integration processes for a district?
